The American popstar and actress makes her official comeback to releasing music with her new You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love. As she confirmed just a few days ago, her new production will be out on all platforms on June 12, 2026.
She made this very awaited announcement in her socials. “my third album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ is out June 12th. I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait for you to hear it. available for preorder now! 🩷.”

Olivia Rodrigo enters a new era with her new album
Olivia’s third studio album comes with a different concept from her other previous productions. SOUR and GUTS were both coming from a more juvenile perspective, whereas in You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love we find a different Olivia.
All of her work surrounds the idea of love songs that explain a certain period of her life. In her new album, she explores a different perspective of her typical romantic tunes.
Rodrigo spoke in an interview with British Vogue about her process creating love songs. “I realized all my favorite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them,” the artist said. “You’re getting to the core of all of your issues: how you feel about yourself, your insecurities, what makes you joyful. It feels like the most raw form of you, which is so scary and terrifying and uncomfortable, sometimes, but beautiful at times.”
While we are getting to know more details each day, there is not much we have gotten yet. Nevertheless, some official sources confirmed that the new disc will contain 13 new songs.
Moreover, Rodrigo also announced that the disc’s first single would be out very soon, on April 17, 2026. Her newest tune is called Drop Dead, and from what she said it will combine romanticism with Olivia’s classic dramatic style.
In You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love we will find love seen as something contradictory, unstable and even uncomfortable. A feeling that is not pure happiness, but neither is it complete tragedy. The drivers license singer admitted that her new 13 hits are sad love songs, where doubt, fear and nostalgia lurk beneath the surface.
Olivia’s musical progress from her previous productions
Comparing her upcoming disc to SOUR and GUTS, we find a clear change in maturity from the American singer. Back when Rodrigo started making music, there was a dominance of direct lyrics, intensity and explosive emotions. In her third album, it is said that there will be a more ambiguous and introspective vibe. Sources talked about having more nuances, rather than screaming.

In her interview with British Vogue, she also talked about how her time away in London influenced her new album. “I’ve found a lot of inspiration from being in London,” she admitted. “I’ve spent so much time here over the course of making this album. It has a lot of songs that are London vibes, about experiences that I’ve had here.” Now, the wait is over after her time away since Olivia Rodrigo announced the release of her new album .
