Maya Hawke is set to release her fourth studio album Maitreya Corso on May 1st, 2026. As usual for the Stranger Things star, her new production comes two years after her last one, Chaos Angel, from 2024.
Maitreya Corso is one of the most awaited indie-folk launches of the year. In her new album, Maya Hawke explores a new narrative concept, rather than just creating a collection of songs.

The artist admitted her intention of creating a new persona, through which she can explain some of her main ideas for the disc. The struggle between creativity and ego and protecting authenticity from ambition are some of the most present themes in Maitreya Corso.
In her new 13 songs, Maya follows her usual style mixing folk and indie sounds. However, just by seeing who she collaborated with in the creation of the new album, we see a clear development. Now, in just a few weeks, Maya Hawke is set to release her fourth studio album Maitreya Corso.
Maitreya Corso is cowritten by her own husband, the American singer and composer Christian Lee Hutson. The American multi-instrumentalist and composer Benjamin Lazar Davis is also present in the making of the new disc, as he is the singer’s regular songwriting partner.

The album’s main single Devil You Know came out some time ago, on March 2nd, 2026. It came as the first clue to Hawke’s new musical conceptual narrative. The song surrounds the idea of choosing what is familiar, even if it is imperfect or hurtful, because the alternative might be worse. Devil You Know talks about the fear of change and how ambition and success can distort one’s identity.
(Deal with the devil you know/ Take it slow, he might show up/ You might lose him when you grow up/ You might blow up, you might pop/ None of that’s a good reason to stop/ I can still hear it/ “You’re so ambitious,” she spit at me like a curse/ What made it worse is that she was right/ I looked in the mirror that night and saw what she saw/ A dreamer clenching her jaw) – Devil You Know’s lyrics from Maya Hawke’s new album Maitreya Corso.
Maya Hawke talks about creating Maitreya Corso
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the indie singer talked about what she wanted to transmit through her new creation. “I kind of wanted the record to feel like a journey. Which is why giving it that title may be intimidating to pronounce, because I wanted it to feel like the journey of like a fantasy heroine.”
“A journey from aspiring towards something. I want to be with this person; I want to live this kind of life. I want to, you know, I want to make something of myself to like, ‘oh wow, I’m looking around at what I have and what I’m doing, and it feels really good’.” – Maya Hawke talking about her new album Maitreya Corso with Rolling Stone.
Moreover, there are also some references to love, jealousy and control over creative relationships that appear in the disc. In the same interview with Rolling Stone, Hawke mentioned this loving relationship she treats in the disc. “There’s a love story in this album, you know, in kind of dealing with ambition and dealing with fear and dealing with history.”
“As you grow as a person, I think you become more and more available to be with the love of your life. Because you are more you, you’re this cheesiest ever. But, if you’re not yourself, you’re not going to find your person. You’ve got to reckon with the mirror before you can reach out your hand,” Maya Hawke continued in her interview with Rolling Stone.
