JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes’ shared time in the “Big Brother” house has definitely raised eyebrows.

“Boomerang” singer JoJo Siwa (21) has never shied away from making bold moves—whether it’s her sparkly fashion or genre-defying career path. But her latest headline-making moment has fans both puzzled and intrigued.
In recent weeks, the Internet has been abuzz with speculation that the former “Dance Moms” star may be romantically linked to 32-year-old British reality TV personality and fellow “Celebrity Big Brother” housemate Chris Hughes.
The rumors came across as a big shock to fans since Siwa was in a relationship with “I’ve Always Said That” co-host Kath Ebbs when she first started getting close to Hughes. However, Ebbs recently revealed via TikTok that their now ex-girlfriend had “dumped” them as she no longer identified as a lesbian.

“I don’t even know where to begin. I’m filming this in a complete state of shock,” the content creator said in a since-deleted video on Saturday. “I honestly feel so numbed out right now and so disorientated [sic] that I feel like the only thing I have to do to place this situation is to finally address it after two weeks of sitting back, watching certain things unfold and not being able to get any clarity from the person that it involved — who was, what I thought — one of the great loves of my life.”
Who is Chris Hughes?
For those unfamiliar with Chris Hughes, he rose to fame on Season 3 of “Love Island UK”, where he was a fan favorite due to his charming demeanor and bromance with fellow contestant Kem Cetinay.

He’s also been in the spotlight for his past high-profile relationships, including one with British musician Jesy Nelson, formerly of Little Mix. Their breakup in 2020 was widely covered in the British tabloids.
An Unlikely Couple
It all started during their shared time in the “Celebrity Big Brother” house, when former castmate Mickey Rourke (72) was homophobic towards Siwa. “If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore,” he said to Siwa. “I’m going to vote the lesbian out real quick,” he then told other housemates.
Shortly after, he also got into a nearly-physical altercation with Hughes during a pirate-themed challenge. Rourke’s problematic behavior got him removed from the house, leaving Siwa and Hughes to bond over their common enemy. Both of them ended up being finalists on the program, with Siwa finishing in third place after becoming a fan favorite.
After Rourke got kicked out of the show, Siwa revealed that she no longer identified as a lesbian and came out as queer. From that moment, her relationship with Hughes got tighter—their on-camera PDA got intense, with Hughes giving Siwa a forehead smooch after a very intimate moment in a hot tub.

“Christopher, the love that I’ve gained for you in this building is insane,” Siwa said to Hughes during their final dinner on the show. “You’re a one-of-a-kind gentleman, somebody who is easy to love, so easy to laugh with. I really, really believe you are a vital part of my life that I didn’t know was missing.”
Public Reactions: Mixed and Curious
Social media initially responded to the rumored pairing with a mixture of confusion, support, and amusement. Some fans embraced the idea, calling it “unexpected but kind of iconic,” while others were more skeptical, questioning the nature of their bond and highlighting the 11-year age gap.
Still, there’s a significant portion of fans who always believed the two are simply friends or collaborators—possibly working on a project to attract attention given JoJo’s history of creating viral moments and content partnerships.
JoJo and Chris break the silence
Last Monday, Siwa and Hughes made a much-anticipated appearance together on “This Morning”. The two insisted their relationship was “platonic”, but the singer also made clear that they don’t know what the future could hold.
As JoJo continues to reinvent herself and Chris enjoys a second wave of media interest, their paths crossing—romantic or not—has created one of the most unexpected tabloid stories of the season.
