Trionda celebrates the unity of Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. with a bold four-panel design and cutting-edge connected technology for real-time referee support.
Adidas has launched Trionda, the official match ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, reflecting the unprecedented collaboration of hosts Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The ball’s name, blending “tri” (three) and “onda” (wave), is a nod to the three countries connected through vibrant red, green, and blue motifs, including embossed icons representing each nation, the maple leaf, eagle, and star, all accented with gold detailing honoring the World Cup trophy.
From a technical perspective, Trionda is built with a new four-panel construction designed for maximum aerodynamic stability and enhanced ball control under various weather conditions. Each panel features intentionally deep seams and tactile embossed graphics to improve grip during wet or humid play.
The ball also incorporates an advanced 500Hz inertial measurement sensor chip embedded in one panel to provide precise data in real-time to Video Assistant Referees (VAR), helping speed up decisions such as offsides and handball calls with greater accuracy.
The development process spanned 3.5 years with rigorous testing across altitude, temperature, and practical play by professionals and smart robotic systems, ensuring durability and consistent performance.
Following an eye-catching global launch event in Brooklyn and a celebratory presentation in Mexico City right outside the iconic Azteca Stadium, the Trionda ball now gears up for its debut in World Cup qualifiers before taking center stage across 104 matches next summer, setting a new benchmark for the sport’s most prestigious stage.
