If Timothée Chalamet hadn’t seen Heath Ledger in ‘The Dark Knight’, he might never have dared to go to auditions and try his luck in acting. But not only did he do that: he also started to get roles in films like ‘Interstellar’, which many actors would have given everything for. However, he didn’t end up getting roles in blockbusters, and there was a reason for this, which may seem ridiculous to us now: his body.

In an interview with Zane Lowe, Chalamet recalls being cut from several potential blockbusters: “If I auditioned for ‘The Maze Runner’ or ‘Divergent’ or anything like that that was coming out when I was first starting out, the answer was always, ‘Oh, you don’t have the right body. ‘ I had an agent who would call me and say, ‘You need to gain weight,’ basically. Not in a pushy way, but you get my point.”
Cuadra: Both titles are from 2014, just when he was starting to make a career for himself. Luckily, he was able to avoid Hollywood: “They were films with a smaller budget, but very – I don’t know how else to put it – personal, that started in the movie theater. That’s where I found my rhythm, my confidence, my flow, whatever you want to call it.”

After starring in ‘Dune’ and ‘Wonka’, no one is asking him to gain weight or change his physique, because that’s what brings a large part of the public to the cinema… and the reason why he has landed the role of Bob Dylan, with whom he can’t help but identify: “I found my way in these very personal films. For Dylan, it was folk music. He couldn’t have a rock and roll band because they were hired by other kids who had more money, literally, in Minnesota.” By the way, and if you’re curious, before ‘Dune 3’ we’ll see the actor not only in ‘A complete unknown’, but also in ‘Marty Supreme’, by Josh Safdie.
