After the quarterfinals of the final phase of the American soccer league concluded yesterday, we now know which the semifinals will be and when they will be played.
The finals of both Major League Soccer (MLS) conferences have been decided this Sunday. The LA Galaxy will face Seattle Sounders FC in the West, while the East crown will be disputed by Orlando City SC and the New York Red Bulls.
The Sounders stunned West side top seed LAFC with a 2-1 overtime win in Los Angeles on Saturday. Maxime Chanot scored an own goal and Jordan Morris scored in extra time to give Seattle the win. Ryan Hollingshead opened the scoring for the home side.
The Galaxy came in as favorites against Minnesota United FC this Sunday, and made the most of this condition and the home court advantage. The white team crushed Minnesota 6-2 with doubles from Gabriel Pec, Dejan Joveljic and Joseph Paintsil. Kelvin Yeboah scored the two goals in stoppage time for the visitors.
Orlando City reached its first MLS conference final this Sunday after beating the surprising Atlanta United FC 1-0 at home, which defeated Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami CF. Ramiro Enrique scored the only goal of the match.
In the Hudson River derby, the New York Red Bulls won 2-0 as visitors against New York City FC. Felipe Carballo Ares opened the scoring for the Red Bulls with a violent shot from mid-range and Dante Vanzeir scored the second and final goal.
As soon as the conference semifinals were over, MLS announced the schedule and date for the finals.
Orlando City and the Red Bulls will decide the Eastern Conference champion on Saturday, November 30th starting at 7:30 PM (ET) at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy will host the Seattle Sounders at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday, November 30th at 10:00 PM (ET) to decide the Western Conference champion.
