What is Artists for Aid?
Artists for Aid is a creative musical initiative that consists of a series of charity concerts. Which is organized by the Canadian singer and composer Mustafa Ahmed, professionally known as Mustafa the Poet. The main objective of the beneficial event is to raise support, solidarity and economic resources through music and the influential artists that perform at the concerts.
Moreover, all of the profits are destined for humanitarian organizations that help those in need during armed conflicts. More specifically, due to the ongoing hostility situations in Palestine and Sudan, the funding is directly sent to these places in order to help as much as possible. The two humanitarian companies that receive benefit from Artists for Aid are the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund and the Sudanese American Physicians Association.

The Mind Behind Artists for Aid: Mustafa the Poet
Raised in a Sudanese household, Mustafa has always been very conscious and vocal about his roots and his background. Furthermore, after spreading awareness about the continued cruel conflicts in Sudan, he also started to shed light to the atrocities happening in Palestine. Back in 2024, Mustafa released a song called Gaza is Calling. In which he talks about the end of a very special friendship after forced conditions.
And we grew up on a street where every war meets/ All out living rooms were aflame/ But you led the way/ How to hold it all and take the day/ You wear that scarf like it’s a vein/ Always pack your mothers plates/ You won’t let anything else escape/ And I can’t write you a letter/ You don’t know how to read/ You won’t listen either/ So when can I tell you how I feel?/ How I feel – Gaza is calling lyrics.
In an interview with Genius, he explains what it means to him and where it comes from. “Gaza is Calling is about my first experience with heartbreak in friendship. I was 11 when I met this boy from Gaza. We were inseparable. With him I shared one of the deepest loves I’ve ever known, he grew up alongside me in a housing project in Toronto. And not even this love was a match for the violence we were up against; the one in our new home, the one that followed him from Gaza like a cold wind”.

Artists Advocating for Human Help
On that same year, 2024, the Canadian Sudanese musician had a much bigger idea: to create a musical event to help civils suffering from armed conflicts. The first edition of the charity event took place in January 2024, in Newark, New Jersey. This concert became very successful and resulted in a second version of the event in July 2025 that flew to London. These events have become very succesful throuout the years. On January 10, the 3rd edition of Artist for Aid raised $5.4 million.
On the other hand, Mustafa collaborated with poet Safia Elhillo and composer Dev Hynes on a new project tho sed light to some of the most worrying conflicts of today. Many artists, such as Lewis Hamilton, Rosalía and Jeremy Allen White, were also part of this production.
