“Glitter, lots of glitter,” Taylor Swift, now nicknamed the showgirl, is set to bring more glitter-gel-pen songs.

Taylor’s highly anticipated debut on the “New Heights” podcast has turned into one of the biggest music announcements of 2025.
Joined by boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce for an episode fans had been buzzing about for days, the superstar revealed her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, set for release on October 3, 2025.
Alongside the announcement, she unveiled the cover art and complete tracklist — a moment she had been teasing with cryptic clues and a countdown clock on her website since August 12.
“And, baby, that’s show business for you,” Swift wrote on social media as she dropped the news.
A Dramatic On-Air Reveal
In a perfectly staged moment, Swift opened a briefcase during the recording to reveal the The Life of a Showgirl album artwork. Fans recognized it as the image she had teased in a blurred video the day before.

“This is my brand new album,” she told the Kelce brothers, confirming weeks of fan theories.
The 13-track album includes:
- The Fate of Ophelia
- Elizabeth Taylor
- Opalite
- Father Figure
- Eldest Daughter
- Ruin the Friendship
- Actually Romantic
- Wi$h Li$t
- Wood
- CANCELLED!
- Honey
- The Life of a Showgirl (feat. Sabrina Carpenter)
Swift’s Glamorous New Era
The Life of a Showgirl marks a bold artistic shift for Swift, embracing vintage-Hollywood glamour, sequins, and a more sensual aesthetic than any of her previous work.

The album follows 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department, which she announced during the Grammys and released in the midst of her record-breaking Eras Tour — the highest-grossing tour in history, earning over $2.2 billion across five continents.
This will also be Swift’s first release since regaining complete control over her music catalog. In May, she confirmed she had purchased the masters of her early albums, originally under Big Machine Records, from private equity firm Shamrock Capital, though she did not disclose the price.
The Max Martin & Shellback Partnership Returns
For this project, Swift is reuniting with hitmakers Max Martin and Shellback, who have been behind some of her biggest hits, including “Shake It Off”, “22”, “Style” and “Blank Space”.
Swift revealed that The Life of a Showgirl is the first album created exclusively by just the three of them — no other collaborators.
“I call Max my mentor,” Swift told the Kelce brothers. “We’ve never made an entire album just the three of us before. I wanted it to be as focused and intentional as The Eras Tour — and to make something I’m just as proud of.”
The sessions took place in Sweden during her Eras Tour stop in Stockholm, where Martin attended one of her shows. “I told him, ‘I feel like we could knock this out of the park if we got back in the studio,’” she said.
A Carefully Orchestrated Rollout
Swift’s team began building anticipation for the reveal with subtle clues, including a mint-green rectangle with an orange lock on her website — a detail fans quickly connected to the album’s visual theme.
At 12:12 a.m. ET on August 12, her website’s countdown clock hit zero, confirming the new project.
With a stacked tracklist, a Sabrina Carpenter feature, and the return of her most successful producers, The Life of a Showgirl is already being positioned as one of the most anticipated album releases of 2025.
And in true Taylor Swift fashion, she made sure to debut it in a way that blended romance, star power, and showmanship — right alongside her Super Bowl–winning boyfriend.
