Legend guitarist Slash confirms there is a Guns N’ Roses album to be released. This launch would break their 17-years break from releasing music; the last time was in 2008.

In an interview with Guitar World magazine, the iconic hard rock musician admitted that new music is on the works. “There’s so much material at this point — it’s a matter of having the discipline to sit down and fucking get into it,” he says. “But the thing with Guns is, in my experience, you can never plan ahead. You can never sit down and go, ‘We’re going to take this time, and we’re going to do this.’ Every time we’ve done that, it falls apart. It just spontaneously happens through some sort of inspiration that triggers it,” he admits. “So it’s coming. I know it’s coming because everybody is thinking about it. It’ll just happen when it happens.”

This new release would become the first LP they launch after 17 years. Chinese Democracy was the last album Guns N’ Roses put out. Published in November 2008, this album became the first album after 15 years. Chinese Democracy came in after their last LP The Spaghetti Incident? from 1993. However, Guns N’ Roses bandmates Slash and Duff were not in the band at that moment.

Nevertheless, Axl managed to lead the group and record this new production. Some of its most popular songs are Chinese Democracy, Better, There Was a Time (TWAT), Street of Dreams, This I Love and Madagascar. It was a production that was very far from the “classical” Guns N’ Roses sound. For this reason, the album was not received very well as fans were critical. On the other hand, as time passed by, the LP gained appreciation for its complexity and ambition.

The band from 2016 to now

Since then, the iconic rock band released a few singles, as well as live and studio recordings. In 2016, Slash and Duff officially joined back, after more than 20 years separated, for a reunion. Moreover, this was the start of the new musical content they plan to release now.

In February 2022, they launched a four-song EP called Hard Skool. Which contained singles Absurd (August 2021), Hard Skool (September 2021), Don’t Cry (Live, February 2022) and You’re Crazy (Live, February 2022). This was a historic moment for the band as it was their comeback after almost 30 years of no music.

Later in 2023 they launched never-seen-before hits that came from the Chinese Democracy era. Perhaps (August 2023) had a more melodic sound to it, remembering us to the classical style with Slash’s riffs and the chorus. Furthermore, this track managed to go up the rock song charts. The other hit launched was The General (December 2023), characterized by its experimental approach. Fans consider this the “newest” Guns N’ Roses song.

As for the moment, they are touring and performing their most iconic hits. They announced the Because What You Want & What You Get Are Two Completely Different Things World Tour. This new era is planned to go from May 2025 to November 2025. In addition, they are on the South American leg of the tour.
