Sabrina Carpenter wanted to surprise everyone at the Austin City Limits festival last Saturday. No one was a better bombshell than the iconic Canadian artist Shania Twain. Their performance together in Zilker Metropolitan Park (Texas) on October 4 was one for the books.
Carpenter is on her 5th tour, called after her last album, the Short n’ Sweet Tour. This musical journey began some time ago, on September 23, 2024, in Columbus (Ohio). Since then, she has performed in many cities across Europe and America. Moreover, the total number of shows that were planned is 72.
The young pop star was one of the most awaited headliners at the ACL festival. She decided to start on a high note by bringing no other than Shania Twain onstage. She mentioned that she wanted to give fans a “gift” and this was perfect way of doing it.
“I show love in weird ways. One of the ways I show my love is by gift-giving. That’s one of my languages, and I thought it’d be fun to give you guys a little gift tonight.”
“Give you a little present because you all showed up and showed out for all of us,” she continued, “Will you please make the most noise in the world for the incredible, one and only Shania Twain?” – Sabrina Carpenter at her concert at the ACL festival
They kicked off by singing a duet-style of Shania’s hit That Don’t Impress Me Much. The 1997 sensation brought everyone on their feet. During the song, the country artist changed the lyrics of her iconic song. Instead of saying the popular “Okay, so you’re Brad Pitt”, to “Okay, so you’re from Austin, Texas” and everyone in the crowd freaked out. When the performance ended, Carpenter asked for some noise for Shania and thanked her for being there.
Nevertheless, this is not the first time both iconic stars have performed together onstage. Last Christmas, Sabrina asked Shania to join her A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina. Twain talked about this experience in her socials, by saying: “What do you say when @sabrinacarpenter calls you up and asks if you want to sing a Christmas song together? Obviously you say “Sure, I would love to sing with you Sabrina!” When I tell you I had the most fun shooting A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina I’m not exaggerating, she is so funny, I basically spent the entire shoot laughing!”
