Russell leads every lap for his second win of the year in Singapore, as McLaren’s third and fourth place lock up a second successive Constructors’ title amid rising tensions between Norris and Piastri.
George Russell delivered a flawless drive on the streets of Marina Bay, leading from pole position to secure his second win of the Formula 1 season and the fifth of his career. The Mercedes driver kept Max Verstappen at bay throughout the Singapore Grand Prix, ultimately finishing five seconds clear of the Red Bull star.
Lando Norris survived early contact with his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri to round out the podium in third, helping McLaren clinch their second consecutive Constructors’ Championship with a 3-4 finish.
The race was marked by tension inside the McLaren garage, Norris’s first-lap clash with Piastri left the Australian frustrated, and team radio exchanges pointed to growing rivalry as the drivers’ title fight intensifies. McLaren’s tactical calls, including pit stop priorities, were a talking point, but the team’s consistency and depth sealed the championship with six rounds remaining.
Behind the top four, rookie Kimi Antonelli impressed with fifth for Mercedes. Further back, both Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz produced strong comebacks: Alonso recovered from a costly pit stop to take seventh after Lewis Hamilton received a post-race penalty, while Sainz scored a point for Williams despite starting from last place.
With McLaren’s second straight team title secured, attention turns to the drivers’ championship, where Oscar Piastri leads Norris by 22 points, and Verstappen remains in striking distance with six races left.
