Rosalía’s new album Lux rocked the music industry and every country’s top charts. The new LP was officially released on November 7, 2025, and it rapidly gained streams all over the world.
Lux comes as the Spanish artist’ fourth studio album with a different aesthetic from her previous album Motomami. While Motomami was more drawn to the urban style of music, Lux has a spiritual and mystical vibe to it.
In an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, the multifaceted superstar opened up about the creation process. Furthermore, she talked about her connection with fans and Lux’s songs. “I make music for people to feel, right? And maybe they’re going to feel the most if I really go all the way,” said Rosalía. “Maybe I’m not allowing myself to go all the way. Maybe I’m writing songs, but I’m not finishing the thought.”
“And I think that in this album [Lux], it allowed me to grow as a writer and as an arranger and as a producer because of that, because of going all the way and not trying to just break the song here and there. No, this is the thought, how far I can go with this thought,” the Despechá artist added.
Lux achieved 42.1 million streams in the first 24 hours after its release on Spotify. As a result, Rosalía became the female Hispanic artist with the most listened album on its debut. She managed to surpass the previous record, that was from Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito. The Colombian singer went to the first position with 35.7 million streams on the launch day.

In addition to this, on a global scale, Lux became the ‘it-album’. On the debut, 12 out of the 15 songs that form the album entered Spotify’s top 50 global. After this astonishing achievement, Rosalía became the third most listened artist on the platform on a global scale.
Furthermore, it was very well received by critics. The known portal Metacritic scored Rosalía’s new disc as 97/100, becoming one of the best graded LPs. “While Lux is certainly accessible, it’s also a challenging listen. The fact that it sounds like nothing else may put some people off straight away”, said a critic review on Metacritic.
“Yet for those willing to fully immerse themselves in its overwhelming sweep, the reward is likely to be a dizzying, unmatchable experience which cements Rosalía as one of the most visionary artists working today”, the critic added.
