Rihanna and A$AP Rocky may have just hinted at the gender of their third baby during a star-studded appearance at the world premiere of “The Smurfs Movie” in Brussels, Belgium.

While walking the blue carpet at Mont des Arts, A$AP Rocky, 36, seemingly let slip that he and Rihanna are expecting a baby girl. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, host Kevin Frazier asked the rapper, “Is that the girl you’ve been waiting for?” A$AP quickly replied, “It is, man, it is.”
Realizing the implication, Rocky (born Rakim Athelaston Mayers) attempted to deflect by holding up a plush Smurfette doll, joking: “Right here, you know what I’m saying? Right here.”
When the same question was posed to Rihanna, the 36-year-old Grammy winner responded with a coy smile, teasing, “Let’s see if it’s a Smurfette… It could be a Papa Smurf. Who knows?”
Rihanna Confirms Baby Name Will Start With “R”
While staying mysterious about the baby’s gender, Rihanna did reveal that the couple plans to stick with a naming tradition. “That’s the one thing me and Rocky don’t fight over,” she shared, confirming that their third child’s name will also start with the letter “R”.
The couple—already parents to sons RZA Athelston Mayers (age 3) and Riot Rose Mayers (22 months)—have openly shared their desire for a growing family.
When asked how many more children they planned on having, Rihanna quipped, “We’re going to be like the Wayans family, you know? Love is beautiful, and it’s just about spreading it.”
A Long Standing Love Story
The musical power duo first met in 2011 when Rihanna enlisted Rocky to feature on her track “Cockiness (Love It).” After years of friendship, they went public with their romance and now share a strong bond marked by matching tattoos commemorating their shared birth year, 1988.
A$AP Rocky’s Legal Victory and Acting Debut
Earlier this year, A$AP Rocky was found not guilty in a high-profile 2021 shooting case involving fellow rapper A$AP Relli. He had faced up to eight years in prison, but a jury cleared him on all counts in February.
Rocky also steps into the world of acting this year, starring as Yung Felony in Spike Lee’s anticipated neo-noir thriller “Highest 2 Lowest”, premiering in U.S. theaters on August 22, with a streaming release on Apple TV+ beginning September 5.
Rihanna Stars in and Produces “The Smurfs Movie”
Rihanna, whose billion-dollar empire spans music, fashion, and beauty, serves as producer and voice actor in “The Smurfs Movie”, in which she plays Smurfette. The animated feature hits UK and U.S. theaters on July 18 and includes original songs written and recorded by the superstar, such as “Friend Of Mine.”

Previously, Smurfette was voiced by pop icons Katy Perry and Demi Lovato, making Rihanna the latest A-lister to take on the iconic role.
The voice cast also includes a powerhouse lineup: Nick Offerman, Natasha Lyonne, Dan Levy, Amy Sedaris, Nick Kroll, James Corden, Octavia Spencer, Sandra Oh, Hannah Waddingham, Kurt Russell, and John Goodman, among others.
Rihanna’s Expanding Business Empire
Outside of entertainment, Rihanna continues to dominate the business world with her $3 billion lingerie brand Savage X Fenty and the ever-growing Fenty Beauty empire, which now includes Fenty Skin, Fenty Fragrance, and Fenty Hair. With a net worth estimated in the billions, Rihanna is a true mogul in both music and entrepreneurship.
