British superstar Olivia Dean just released her album The Art of Loving and it is already on top. She achieved one of the most precious spots in the industry, as she strikes an Official Chart double. This means that she hit the number 1 spot in both the UK’s Official album and single.
The Art of Loving was released September 26 and fans welcomed it amazingly. Moreover, the reviewing website Metacritic scored it in the medium-high category, as “universal acclaim”. Reviewing website Pitchfork focuses in its positive views and its “warmth, coherence, vocal quality and artistic intention”.
Dean is already planning a tour for her new album. She announced The Art of Loving Live for next year, which is expected to be her most ambitious tour until date. This exciting tour will be stopping in Europe and Oceania. It is planned to begin in Glasgow on April 23, 2026, and to be finished in Auckland on October 17, 2026.
This summer the British artist also broke some other records. She became the “first British woman since Adele to land three simultaneous singles in the U. K.’s Top 10 charts”. The new talent comes with a new style and is here to stay. Her style is a mix of many, including pop, soul and neo-soul. All of this is happening while classic references set the scene.
Her album’s inspiration
“I’m somebody that is such a sponge for things. I love art in many different forms. I was listening to a lot of vinyl and crate-digging, and listening to a lot of Brazilian music. There’s also always a lot of reggae music, and I listen to a lot of Ethiopian music and Fleetwood Mac. I really also got into more guitar-y music. There’s a singer I love called Alice Phoebe Lou—I’m always listening to her. I love her lyrics and the spirituality and emotional intelligence in her writing.” Olivia on her references. Source: Vogue
“I was also going to a lot of exhibitions. I went to this exhibition called All About Love in LA, actually, which inspired the kind of theme for the album, and this amazing Brazilian modernism exhibition in London where I saw this specific painting. I took all the colors from that painting for the color palette for the vinyl.” Source: Vogue
