Nicki Minaj just surprised everyone with the cancellation of her upcoming and very awaited sixth studio album; which was supposed to come out March 27, 2026.
Minaj boiled up the tension with a series of posts on social media talking about her disappointment and the reasons. Furthermore, she even mentioned a possible retirement from music. “Ok I’m not going to put out the album anymore. No more music. Hope youre happy now @sc. Bye, Barbz. Love you for life”.

Fans are really disappointed in this result since they were pleased with a new Nicki album. Some of them posted on X saying: “Time for me to start putting my Nicki Minaj tour outfit together from now. I don’t want nothing regular. I want something doll-like. I probably will have to get that made”, @brendiminaj. Another fan wrote: “Nicki Minaj is coming. Oh, the Queen Onika truly is. I been praying for confirmation, and this was definitely it. I said this the other day, and she delivered”.
This new album was supposed to be the continuation of her previous Pink Friday 2, released in 2023. Originally, this new LP was going to be part of the deluxe album called Pink Friday 2: Gag City Reloaded. However, she changed her mind and decided to cancel the release for this new launch.
Minaj also affirmed that a tour is planned for this new era. Nevertheless, we know nothing more at the moment, as no title, song list or collabs were announced. In addition, with Nicki’s most recent posts, there is nothing more to do than wait for what the Barbz’ leader comes with.
Nicki Minaj vs. Jay Z
This is not the first time the American artist posts about controversial moments with Jay Z and his label Roc Nation. Back in 2015, Minaj admitted she had a 3% equity stake in their cofounded music streaming service called Tidal. Then, it was sold for 302 million dollars in 2021, and she found very unfair they only offered her one million dollars.
That is why, not so long ago, in July 2025 she went back to post about it saying: “We’ve calculated about 100-200MM so far. #JayZ call me to settle this karmic debt. It’s only collecting more interest. You still in my TOP 5 tho. Let’s get it n***a. And anyone still calling him Hov will answer to God for the blasphemy.”

On the other hand, many artists including Nicki, suggested that Roc Nation and Jay Z put a lot of pressure on them many times. That they also add in tension on music departments, tours and image control. Minaj has also commented about her opinion on Roc Nation’s CEO Desiree Pérez and her “abusive management”.
