Oppenheimer and Barbie Lead The Dance
While the Oscars celebrate cinema, they also reward the music behind the films. Besides, the ceremony itself is interspersed with musical numbers. Here are the winners and performers of the 96th Academy Awards.
It Takes Two To Tango
Barbie and Oppenheimer once again compete for the Academy‘s two music-related awards. While the score to Christopher Nolan‘s biopic wins in its own category, it’s Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell who are rewarded for Best Original Song for “What Was I Made For”. Performances In Pink
The American singer gave a moving performance of her Oscar-winning song. Also from the Barbie team, Ryan Gosling took to the stage to bring on the “Kenergy”. These were said to be the best performances of the night.
More Singing Nominees
The other nominees for the Best Original Song award didn’t miss a beat. Jon Batiste sang “It Never Went Away” from American Symphony and Scott George and the Osage Singers performed “Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People)” from Killers of the Flower Moon. From the film Flamin Hot, Becky G took to the stage for a feel-good Latin number with “The Fire Inside.”
A Moving Homage
Italian singer Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo sang during the In Memoriam segment, performing a duet of “Time to Say Good-Bye”. Although the song wasn’t nominated for an Oscar, it was a way of paying tribute to the actors, screenwriters, musicians, producers and other professionals from the world of cinema who have passed away over the past year.
