For years, fans of Nickelodeon’s hit sitcom iCarly have wondered: Are Miranda Cosgrove and Jennette McCurdy still friends? The answer is yes — the former co-stars may not see each other every day, but they’ve maintained a supportive bond long after the show ended.

Miranda Cosgrove Confirms Her Friendship With Jennette McCurdy
In a new interview with People, Miranda Cosgrove, 32, revealed that her connection with Jennette McCurdy, 33, remains strong despite their busy lives and different career paths.
“I don’t really see her as much now,” Cosgrove admitted. “I always know she’s out there, and that if I really needed her I could call her, and I hope she knows the same. … I’m always going to be cheering for her.”
Cosgrove also confirmed that her friendships with Nathan Kress, who played Freddie Benson, and other iCarly cast members continue today.
A Look Back: Carly and Sam’s On-Screen Friendship
Cosgrove and McCurdy rose to fame in 2007 as Carly Shay and Sam Puckett — two best friends who launched a quirky web show alongside cameraman Freddie (Kress). The series became a cultural phenomenon, running for six seasons until 2012 and inspiring countless memes, quotes, and loyal fan theories.
After the show ended, their paths diverged. Jennette McCurdy went on to star in Sam & Cat (2013) with Ariana Grande, reprising her role as Sam Puckett for one season.
Miranda Cosgrove returned in the iCarly reboot (2021–2023) on Paramount+, starring alongside Nathan Kress and Jerry Trainor, though McCurdy opted not to participate.

Following her Nickelodeon fame, Cosgrove briefly stepped away from acting to earn a psychology degree at the University of Southern California. Recently, she’s returned to Hollywood both in front of and behind the camera.
She currently stars in and executive produces Netflix’s romantic comedy The Wrong Paris, premiering September 12, 2025. The film marks her transition into more mature roles while also showcasing her skills as a producer.

McCurdy, meanwhile, shifted away from acting to focus on writing and directing. In 2022, she released her bestselling memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died, which detailed her complicated upbringing, the pressures of child stardom, and her journey toward healing.

The book was a massive success, topping bestseller lists and sparking national conversations. Apple TV+ is now adapting it into a 10-episode limited series with Jennifer Aniston attached to star.
McCurdy also continues to expand her literary career. Her debut novel, Half His Age, will be released on January 20, 2026. The provocative story follows a 17-year-old girl’s affair with her teacher, cementing McCurdy’s voice as a bold and fearless writer.
The Status of Their Friendship Today
While Jennette McCurdy and Miranda Cosgrove may not work together anymore, their friendship remains rooted in mutual respect and admiration. Both stars have taken different creative paths—one leaning into Hollywood projects, the other into writing and storytelling—but they’ve never spoken ill of one another publicly.
Cosgrove summed it up best in her interview: even if life takes them in different directions, their bond from the iCarly years will always keep them connected.
