Megan Thee Stallion just released her new single Lover Girl, and it has fans conspiring about her love life. This is her second single in 2025 after Whenever launched in April.
Lover Girl is a hit very different from what Megan has us used to. She shows a more personal and vulnerable side to her, while still being close to physicality. Moreover, in this fire track she also makes a prominent sample of Total’s R&B tune Kissin’ You (1996). The thing is here she mixes perfectly several musical genres. A crossover between rap, R&B and pop is present throughout the whole song.
Another big thing this song brings is its romantic theme. As the title says, Megan is in her Lover Girl era making a clear love declaration. Back in July 2025, she confirmed that she and the Dallas Mavericks’ player Klay Thompson are a couple. Since then, they both have supported each other on social media with every project.
In an interview with Page Six she spoke about their relationship saying: “This is my first relationship where I’ve ever been with somebody who’s genuinely a nice person, and he makes me genuinely happy. I just never dated somebody like him before and I’m just grateful that he’s here by my side and he feels the same way about me.”

Fans reactions
Some fans received this new hit with open arms, many of them posted their opinions online. “Oh Meg is in Love. I like a lot of parts of the song, but some could have been cut like the ‘pop that pussy for your man’ part. it’s okay, but I’m not in a lover girl era so I’ll let her have that lol”, said a fan on Reddit. Another fan also said: “I love the production but the verses need lots of work. It’s a cute initial concept, but it’s like they haven’t developed it beyond that”.
On the other hand, this was not a hit for some others. “Honestly, I was really hyped for this song because the snippet sounded amazing, that smooth, dreamy old-school warmth it felt like a lane Megan could completely dominate. The first 1:54 sec delivered, but after that, it just plateaued. The ‘kissin’ kissin’’ sample became repetitive, the beat didn’t evolve, and her delivery on the explicit parts felt awkward instead of confident”, said @poweris_power on Reddit.
