Starring by an amazing cast with names like Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney, Madame Web the new addition to the “Sonyverse” is finally here

With a twist on the classic superhero genre, Madame Web opens in theaters, the origin story of one of Marvel‘s most enigmatic characters. The movie promises to be a suspense thriller starring Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who develops the power to see the future and realizes she can use her visions to change it. Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts, Adam Scott, Kerry Bishé and Zosia Mamet complete the cast of this film directed by S.J. Clarkson.

Watch the Official Trailer:

The question some fans are asking themselves is: who is Cassandra Webb?

As the Web of her name indicates, this Madame is related to the Spider-man universe. Spider-Man lovers will be aware that Cassandra Webb, has been a recurring presence in the Spider-Man comics since 1980, when she was first drawn by John Romita Jr. However, The Marvel film will introduce a notable variation concerning the character: her age. In the comics, Cassandra is an elderly, paralyzed and blind woman. In the upcoming title starring Dakota Johnson, Cassandra will be a young paramedic from Manhattan who discovers her telepathic power and abilities to predict the future given her mutant nature. Marvel wants to tell us the origins of Madame Web. A character comic readers met as an elderly woman connected to a machine that provided her with life support.

Cassandra‘s health suffers when she contracts a neuromuscular disease called myasthenia gravis from which, by the moment, the character played by Dakota Johnson will not yet suffer. The connection between Spider-Man and Web must be found in her first appearance. Cassandra, totally disabled, not only guesses Spider-Man‘s identity but also helps him find a publisher who turns out, in reality, to be an impersonator whose real name Cassandra also discovers. Later, Madame and Spider-Man collaborate on several cases and it is suggested that she is gifted with the gift of immortality.

The Official Twitter account for the movie launched a video with an explanation for fans with the context of the character:

Sydney Sweeney and Dakota Johnson stunned at the movie’s premiere

Both using a spider web-inspired style got all the attention of the cameras at the premiere. The movie’s cast seems to be one of the biggest selling points Sony has invested in. Other names like singer Lauren Jauregui could also be seen at the premier in a similar dress code.

The fans can now go to watch the expected movie. Although, the critics have not been kind. The Rotten Tomatoes score is very low. We have yet to see what the audience has to say about the film.
