The “Smile” singer admits to finally being in a “stronger place” after a time of “emotional turmoil”.
Lily Allen (39) and American actor David Harbour (49) recently separated after four years of marriage. The couple, known for their whirlwind romance and intimate Las Vegas wedding in 2020, had reportedly been living apart for several months before the official split.
Rumors of Infidelity
According to sources close to the couple, their relationship had been facing difficulties for some time. Reports suggest that Harbour, best known for his role as Jim Hopper in “Stranger Things”, was allegedly active on the exclusive celebrity dating app Raya. Allen is said to have discovered this in January, which deeply affected her and added to the mounting tension in their marriage.

Further allegations surfaced more recently, since according to MailOnline Harbour had engaged in a three-year long affair with a costume designer, though neither party has officially commented on these reports. “David cheated on Lily,” an unnamed source told this newspaper. “They met in a movie they did together. They weren’t very secretive about their relationship.”
Despite the growing media attention, Harbour has remained silent on the matter. The actor has continued with his professional commitments, including upcoming projects in film and television.
Emotional Recovery
Following the split, Allen reportedly checked into a treatment center to cope with the emotional distress of the breakup. The singer, who has been open about her past struggles with mental health, shared on her BBC podcast Miss Me? that she sought therapy to help navigate this challenging period. She has been focusing on her well-being and spending time with her two daughters, Ethel Mary (13) and Marnie Rose (12), from her previous marriage.
“I just feel very grateful to have been given the time and the space that I needed. I went into a sort of treatment center for a few weeks, which was great. I did a lot of group therapy and some individual therapy and I just, I needed some time and space away from everything.”
For now, both Allen and Harbour appear to be focusing on their individual paths. Allen has hinted at new music and creative projects in the works, while Harbour remains engaged with his acting career as Stranger Things’ last season is still being filmed.
