(I lived two lives, tried to play both sides/ But I couldn’t find my own place (oh, oh)/ Called a problem child, ’cause I got too wild/ But now that’s how I’m gettin’ paid, 끝없이 on stage/ I’m done hidin’, now I’m shinin’/ Like I’m born to be/ We dreamin’ hard, we came so far/ Now I believe) – KPop Demon Hunters‘ Golden lyrics.

Golden‘s creators Oscars speech
Nevertheless, the KPop Demon Hunters crew went through a tense moment while receiving the award as they cut their speeches off. A lot of people from the crowd noticed the strange situation and cheered for them as protest. Luckily, the creators of the Oscar-winning song had the chance to continue their speeches in the press room.
EJAE started the interview talking about how she felt performing onstage. “I was very nervous, but it is such an honor to be performing at such an incredible stage like the Oscars. Like, it was not even in my bucket list because I did not think it was possible.”
The Golden singer also spoke about being part of the Korean American community. “I am so grateful and especially for us, as Korean American women on stage. It was such an incredible experience to experience like our ancestors. You know, at the beginning of the performance there was Mont the traditional Korean music and that’s what we are so proud of.”
“As a Korean American growing up in the States we kind of wanted to hide our Korean side because we would be bullied as you know out ford or our culture. So, to have a connection like that in our rehearsal, we were able to connect with that and really go back to our roots and be so proud of that,” EJAE admitted after winning the Oscar for Best Original Song for Golden.
