Kendrick Lamar takes over every rap category making history at the 2026 Grammy Awards. The 68th edition of the music awards was one of the best nights in the rapper’s career.
The Humble rapper was one of the main characters of Sunday’s event as he became the artist with the most awards. Kendrick Lamar went home with five new Grammy prizes, increasing his total Grammy Award dominance to 27 gramophones.
By doing this, he set a new record at the music event surpassing another top artist. American rapper and producer Jay-Z held the record as the rap artist with the most Grammy awards at 25 statues. Last Sunday that position was broken by Lamar and his historic rap category sweep.

The Not Like Us artist wanted to express his gratitude and ambition for hip hop music at the music awards during one of his speeches. “It’s hip-hop as usual, man. I’m not good at talking about myself, but I express it through the music. It’s an honor to be here, pile of the clips. Like, these are my brothers to be in this category,” said Kendrick Lamar when accepting his Grammy for Best Rap Album.
“Every time I tell you this, hip hop is going to always be right here. We going to be in these suits. We going to be looking good. We going to be having all our folks with us. We’re going to have the culture with us. So I appreciate y’all. God is the glory, love y’all,” he continued. It was also a stellar night for this generation of rappers, as Kendrick Lamar takes over every rap category at the Grammys.

Gratitute in Kendrick Lamar’s Speeches
When accepting his Grammy for Record of the Year, the American rapper talked about how honored he feels having the chance to create the song. “This is what music is about. Luther Vandross. This is special for me, I’ve got to take my time because it’s one of my favorite artists of all time. They granted us the priviledge to do our version of it. When we got that clearance, I promise you, we d*** near all dropped a tear. Because we know how much him and Charlene poured into that record.”
“Being able to put our vocals of it, it proves that we were somewhat worthy to be just as great as them as individuals. They granted us that, you know, they said ‘No cursing, though. Can’t curse on it’. It was the only thing, right? And we said, ‘You know what? We’re going to do just that. No cursing. We’re going to make sure that this song represents love,’” admitted Kendrick Lamar when accepting his Grammy Award for Record of the Year.
