The protagonist of Pirates of the Caribbean said that his team is working to combat these scams and recalled that he does not have a presence on platforms such as X (Twitter), Snapchat or Discord.

The wave of scams using celebrities is not new, but they are generating images with artificial intelligence to deceive people. The most recent to alert his fans about the issue is the American actor and musician Johnny Depp, who used his social networks to warn his followers about online scammers who impersonate him and his team.

“Unfortunately, I have learned that online scammers are intensifying their efforts to target my fans and followers,” Depp wrote on his Instagram account this week. “As part of their tactics, they create multiple and deceptive social media accounts. and email messages posing as me and members of my team.

The protagonist of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ also highlighted the use of artificial intelligence in these scams. “AI can create the illusion of my face and my voice,” he explained. “Scammers can look and sound just like the real you.” This sophisticated technology has made it even easier for impostors to fool unsuspecting fans.

To clear up any confusion, Depp provided a list of the official social media accounts he is affiliated with. He also clarified that he is not active on platforms such as X, Snapchat or Discord. Furthermore, it stressed that it does not “offer paid meetings, phone calls, club memberships or fan cards,” nor “interact directly with fans on any social media platforms.”

In addition to warning fans about fake accounts, Depp reiterated that neither he nor his representatives would ever get in touch to ask for money or personal information. “Neither I, nor my team, nor my agent, nor my family will ever contact you or on my behalf to ask for money or your personal information,” he stressed.

What are Johnny Depp’s official networks?

Johnny Depp said that his team is working to combat these scams and recalled that he does not have a presence on platforms such as X (Twitter), Snapchat or Discord. “My only official accounts are: Instagram (@johnnydepp), Facebook (@johnnydepp) and TikTok (@johnnydepp).

Likewise, he reiterated that he does not interact directly with his followers through social networks, messaging applications or emails.

“I do not offer paid meetings, phone calls, club memberships or fan cards. If you are ever asked for money for a meeting, call, membership or fan card, it is a scam,” he concluded.
