Ellie Goulding just launched her latest single Destiny shocking fans with its possible meaning. The new fire track comes as her first solo production since her last album drop on April 7, 2023.
Destiny’s arrival makes Ellie’s comeback feel more intimate. Her newest song has a unique yet emotional atmosphere. Moreover, she mixes great harmonies with some string instruments, as well as a choir at the end of the track.
The British star released the new hit’s videoclip at the same time of the launch and surprised everyone. In the special video, we are able to conclude that it is dedicated to her boyfriend Beau Minniear, who also appears in it. These are huge news for ‘Gouldiggers’, as Destiny comes after her separation with ex-husband Caspar Jopling in February 2024.
The Love Me Like You Do artist talked about how she felt when creating and producing her latest tune with People. “Recording this was like a catharsis, it made me feel so much better – like the prize was me all along,” she said in a statement, Rolling Stone remarks.
“Instead of putting my everything into these men, this song was my first feeling of straight-up escape and empowerment. When I heard the track I was in love with it…To me it sounds like surrender. It sounds like let it happen. That’s why it is called ‘Destiny,’ it sounds like what will be will be and accepting it”, Goulding added.
New Album In The Making
Furthermore, the British superstar admitted that she plans to drop a new album next year. Although she teased fans about the launch of this new musical content, she did not give any title.

Moreover, she insinuated that a possible collaboration with Muse’s Matt Bellamy might be in the making. They coincided when recording in a studio and started to create something new together. “We were all just messing around. It was funny, Matt Bellamy from Muse was in the next room recording something, which I then got involved in”, Ellie told The Sun. “I never thought I could say I have a song with Matt Bellamy from Muse, but now I can say that”.
The Lights artist also commented about the album’s composition process in an interview with Sun. “I’ve been writing about what’s been going on in my life,” Goulding told The Sun, however she refused to give an estimated release date. “But also just observations, friends, my connection with nature — the usual things that I tend to gravitate towards writing about, maybe slightly more elevated or evolved from the last album”.
On the other hand, Goulding admitted that all of these new productions come from a very special and personal place. “Songs don’t come that easily to me, especially when they’re from more of a personal place. Sometimes the best songs come from just sitting around, drinking tea, talking. It’s been time-consuming, but it’s time that I’ve needed to take”, said Ellie.
