Ludwig Göransson is a composer, arranger, musician, singer, songwriter and producer from Sweden. He is behind some of the most memorable soundtracks in today’s top movies. Tenet, Oppenheimer, Venom, Black Panther, Sinners and We’re the Millers are some of the films in which Göransson participated. Moreover, he has collaborated with top artists throughout the years. Some of these stars include Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, SZA and Childish Gambino.

Some days ago, the BAFTA Awards 2026 took place in Manchester, where the Swedish composer was in the spotlight once again. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts crowned Ludwig after his work on Sinners’ soundtrack.
At the 79th edition of the British film awards Göransson managed to get the Best Score win surrounded with top contestants. Bugonia’s Jerskin Fendrix, Frankenstein’s Alexandre Desplat, Hamnet’s Max Ritcher and One Battle After Another’s Jonny Greenwood were the other nominees.
Ludwig Göransson’s win at the Golden Globe Awards 2026
Ludwig Göransson’s great path in this year’s awards season took off with his win at the 2026 Golden Globes. At the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, which took place on January 11, 2026, the Swedish composer went home with a new prize.
He won over one of the most famous film music composers of all time. Hans Zimmer was the favorite to get the award, however Göransson managed to get it first. Zimmer’s F1 soundtrack lost at the Golden Globes and the BAFTA to Göransson’s Sinners.
Göransson shines at the 2026 Grammy Awards
In order to make it clear that Göransson’s talent goes further than the big screen, the Grammy Awards 2026 honored him in two categories. Thanks to his contribution to the Sinners’ soundtrack, he went home with two new Grammy prizes.
These categories were Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media and Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.

Nevertheless, this is not the first time the Swedish artist shines on an award season. He was first nominated for the Grammys in 2013 for Best Rap Album, while he worked with Childish Gambino on his album Because the Internet. Three years later, he got nominated again alongside Gambino for Album of the Year and Best Urban Contemporary Album for his disc Awaken, My Love! However, this time he managed to get the win in the Best R&B Performance for Childish Gambino’s Redbone.
In 2019, Göransson and Gambino made history with the single This Is America at the 2019 Grammy Awards. The duo managed to achieve two of the main categories on music’s biggest night. Their Grammy sweep included Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap/Sung Performance and Best Video Clip.
In this awards ceremony Göransson also went home with the Grammy for Best Score for Visual Media. This came after his creative collaboration on Kendrick Lamar’s and SZA’s album for Black Panther’s soundtrack. Moreover, thanks to this score, they accomplished the Oscar for Best Score at the 2019 ceremony, marking a huge step in his career.
To follow with the Black Panther universe, Göransson worked alongside Rihanna on the hit Lift Me Up. This tune got several nominations, including the Oscar and the Golden Globe for Best Original Song and the Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media. Sadly, they did not end up with any of these categories.

2024 was the year for the Swedish composer, as he conquered everything he could ask for with Oppenheimer. The movie directed by Christopher Nolan gave Göransson the Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe for Best Score. This was such a unanimous sweep that consolidated his career. When accepting his grammy prize for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media with Oppenheimer at the 2024 Grammy Awards, he mentioned everyone that works behind such a piece. “I see so many incredible musicians, composers, arrangers, so many friends, and I am really honored to be in the room with all you.”
“This movie and this score were really challenging to make so I just wanted to thank the people that helped me make it. Serena, Noah, Max, Felipe, Brad… I also want to give a special shoutout to my dad who started playing guitar with me when I was six years old. He is here in the back, so thank you dad for always supporting me. Thank you,” he continued.
