Charli XCX teases the release of her first rock album and leaves dance-pop behind. This will be the British artist’s seventh official studio album, after her last iconic drop with BRAT in 2024.
The 360 singer prepares a new turn for her career with a new rock album that will break with everything she has done before. After the cultural and commercial impact, her latest electronic pop era brought, she is ready for something else. Now, Charli XCX teases the release of her first rock album.

Charli XCX decided to change completely and explore a more raw, direct and guitar-based sound. Her new project will mark a clear evolution in her artistic identity. Moreover, this will potentially be one of her most personal works to date. In her lyrics, Charli will explore some of her thoughts about fame, identity and pressure to comeback to the musical industry.
Nevertheless, there is no official release date nor official name for Charli XCX’s new production. What we can confirm is that the album will count with some of the best producers at the moment, and who have already worked with the Von Dutch singer. While there will be obvious changes in her music, she suggests that her innovative approach to new tunes will endure.
Charli XCX opens up about her new rock album
Her new disc comes from the need for creative renovation, putting aside her previous electro-dance tunes. According to her newest interview with Vogue, the British singer leads towards a different space far from the dancefloor. “If I’d made another album that felt more dance-leaning, it would have felt really hard, really sad,” she told Vogue. “What’s interesting for me is to bend the possibilities of what my perspective on that could be.”
A new experimental and alternative rock album is what’s left for Charli XCX. “I’ve been making music since I was 14. It’s nearly 20 years. I feel very spoiled saying this, but there is not much that can thrill me within music any more,” she also told Vogue. “For me, it’s fun to flip the form. We know there’s gonna be people who are bothered by it, but that’s fine. I’d always rather have style than be vague. Which is the biggest crime, in my opinion.”
When discussing what the main themes for the album, Charli opened up about what she wanted to express. She talked about how many of her songs are about her relationship with her husband George Daniels. “I don’t really want to write songs about my husband forever. I’m not sure how interesting that is, and he knows that. If I write about our relationship, I’m probably only really interested in writing about some of the more obscure feelings of being married.”
About her new rock album’s primary focus, she says that it “is commenting on how I interact with the joint main love of my life outside of George [namely art] and what would happen if that was taken from me. How I would have no purpose, and how for good or bad, art does provide me with purpose in my life,” admitted Charli XCX to Vogue.
