Icelandic musician Björk confirmed that a new album is on the works and ready for 2026. This will be her musical comeback since her last drop in September 2022, with her album Fossora.
The indie alternative artist announced this new project with the launch of her exhibition echolalia on the National Gallery of Iceland with James Merry. In the echoalia’s announcement post they also added a comment, which gave away her new production.
“echolalia focuses on Björk as the creative force behind multimedia projects she has developed in collaboration with communities of musicians, artists, designers, dancers, filmmakers, and studio technicians”, Björk posted.
Moreover, the Earth Intruders singer admitted that it consists of a series of spaces dedicated to connecting with the artwork. “In three immersive installations, including Ancestress and Sorrowful Soil, the public is given a rare opportunity to engage intimately with works of phenomenal visual, aural, and emotional depth – the third is a new work based on music from her forthcoming album, currently in development.”
After this statement, fans conclude some this about Björk forthcoming disc. The Icelandic’s new album will be part of a bigger artistic project, rather than just a new LP. Also, as there is no official launch date, it will most likely be released near the exhibition’s opening date on May 30, 2026.
Moreover, it will serve as the new album’s promotion, since one of the three installations will be exclusively surrounding the new disc. Furthermore, fans also commented about where Björk will be heading to with this production. Many think it will be more intimate and different from her previous perspective in Cornucopia and Fossora.

Fans shared on Reddit about their speculations for the Björk’s next move in her music career. A fan wrote about its hopes saying: “I would definitely be appreciative of something that looks and feels totally new. Not a newness you have to look for, listen for, and uncover. But something that immediately looks and sounds like a new era. We have not had that in a while.”
On the other hand, fans also reflected on their concerns about her musical future and her experimental era coming to an end. A fan on Reddit wrote: “My worry is that she’s kind of decided that this is who she is as an artist now, and we’ll get variation for sure, but it will all live in the same solar system. I know the music won’t ever be bad but… maybe it’s just difficult to envision next steps when we’ve been with Cornucopia 3 for an entire decade.”
