Bad Bunny pays tribute to Puerto Rico during his Super Bowl Halftime Show and makes history at the NFL event. The Latin artist keeps writing new records to his career and his appearance at the Superbowl was like no other.

The Super Bowl LX took place on Sunday evening at San Francisco’s Rams Levi’s Stadium. The Puerto Rican artist was in charge of bringing the heat to the football evening. Following NFL’s announcement about who was going to perform at this year’s Superbowl, a lot of people commented on their opinion and became polemic. The thing is, there was a lot of pressure put into the event due to the recent tough situation going on in America.

That is why Bad Bunny took advantage of the spotlight to send a hopeful and uniting message in these times of hate. At the end of the Halftime show a banner appeared containing the saying: “The only thing more powerful than hate is love.” A full-on Spanish music show blew away everyone watching the apple Music Halftime Show at the Super Bowl LX. Moreover, it became the Super Bowl Halftime Show with the most viewers, counting with an estimated 135.4 million people.

Bad Bunny’s tribute to Puerto Rico: symbolism

At the 2026 Super Bowl, Bad Bunny pays tribute to Puerto Rico throughout the whole Halftime show. The first thing we see is the football field converted into the island’s typical sugar cane meadow. This landscape is one of the most popular in Puerto Rico as it symbolizes its economic and colonial history to the tea. A man with a guitar and a straw hat leads the historic musical performance saying “Qué rico es ser latino”, (how rich it is to be latino).

We then fly off the sugar cane field and land in between the bushes, where Benito waits for us singing his hit Tití Me Preguntó. A coconut water stand, a group of elders playing cards and a nail salon are some of the elements we see in the image. So simple, yet very telling, these are some of Puerto Rico’s iconic scenes.

With a lot of camera movements, we also discover many of Latin America’s main features, such as boxing matches and jewelry stores. Then, we switch up with Yo Perreo Sola into a new space, displaying a whole traditional house facade which also features some top celebrities. Pedro Pascal, Cardi B, Jessica Alba, Karol G, Alix Earle and Young Miko were some of the people dancing around in the amazing set.

Bad Bunny paid honor to his island staging the typical everyday life with piraguas stands, the conventional and small houses. Watching the musical show, you could sense what being there would feel like: Surrounded by great music, good vibes and an outstanding ambiance.

Bad Bunny’s tribute to the genre’s legends: Daddy Yankee and Don Omar

The DeBí TiRaR MáS FOToS Grammy winning artist also made a tribute to his musical references. Historic reggaeton figures such as Daddy Yankee and Don Omar were present on Sunday’s evening as Benito performed iconic hits Gasolina and Dale. A moment to honor all those who came before him and those who will in the future. A message that goes well with his Grammys speech after winning Album of the Year, in whick he thanks his previous musical references.

“Puerto Rico, believe when I tell you that we are much bigger than 100 by 35. There is nothing we cannot achieve. Thank God, thank you to the Academy, thank you to all the people who have believed in me throughout my career. To all the people who worked on this album. […]. To all latinos around the world and all the artists who came before me and deserved to be on this stage receiving this award. Thank you very much,” Bad Bunny’s speech receiving his Grammy for Album of the Year.

The Puerto Rican artists also took the time to give a very inspirational message about following your dreams. “Buenas tardes, California, mi nombre es Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio y si hoy estoy aquí en el Super Bowl LX es porque nunca, nunca deje de creer en mí. Tú también deberías de creer en ti. Vales más de lo que piensas. Créeme.” (Good afternoon, California, my name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio. If today I’m here, at the Super Bowl LX is because I’ve never, ever stopped believing in myself. You should believe in yourself too. You are worth more than you think. Believe me.)
