eternal sunshine Is Released Three Years After Her Previous Project Positions
This project was never supposed to exist. Many things came out of the actors’ strikes, and eternal sunshine is one of them. Ariana Grande didn’t plan to make new music until she was done filming Wicked (2024), since she wanted to concentrate on her acting career: an intention that was cut short. The filming had to be paused and Ariana Grande took the opportunity to return to the recording studio. Today, almost four years after her successful album Positions (2020), the singer released 13 new songs.
The title is an homage to Grande‘s —and her late ex-boyfriend Mac Miller‘s— favorite movie: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind starring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet as Joe and Clementine, who decide to erase all memories of each other to “solve” their relationship problems.
The album’s lead single “Yes, And?” was released on January 12, 2024, and debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100. This makes it the singer’s eighth number-one song in the United States.
As of now, the critics are mostly positive. They praise the atmosphere and “adventurous” melodies. Reviewers note the artist’s maturity and honesty with which she made the project.

Grande’s Return To Acting
Ariana Grande plays Glinda in Wicked, the film adaptation of the musical of the same name, and is about two witches who later become the Wicked Witch and the Bad Witch in the world of Oz. She will share the big screen with Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum.
The actress and singer has found herself at the center of controversy over her affair with her married co-star Ethan Slater. Some of Ariana Grande‘s fans think that “Yes, And?” might be about this situation.
