Guardians second baseman Andrés Giménez won the Gold Glove for the third consecutive season
In the 2024 edition of the Gold Glove, three Venezuelans achieved the distinction; Andrés Giménez and Wilyer Abreu for the American League, while Ezequiel Tovar achieved it in the old circuit. The recognition that honors the best in their position within the MLB was announced on the night of this Sunday, November 3.

Giménez has established himself as the best defensive second baseman in the American League by winning it for the third consecutive season. The Cleveland Guardians shortstop completed 98 double plays and 396 assists during the season.
Barquisimetano shortstop Andrés Giménez continues to show that he is the best in his position, with great defensive plays that allowed him to achieve his third consecutive Gold Glove, after the 2022, 2023 (with Platinum Glove mention) and 2024 seasons, all awards with the Cleveland Guardians uniform.
Gimenez had career-highs in defensive runs saved with 20 and tied Marcus Semien for the career-high in outs above average with 19 OAA. He also had a 7.0 UZR, 14 FRV and .986 fielding percentage.

For his part, Ezequiel Tovar from Aragua, achieved his first distinction after a dream campaign for the Colorado Rockies shortstop. Tovar led all shortstops in the old circuit in assists (435) and double plays (107). And he was the one who covered the most ground with a UZR (definitive zone rating) of 11.2, being the only qualified shortstop in the NL to register double digits in that metric.
Ezequiel Tovar becomes the youngest shortstop in National League history to win the Gold Glove. He is also the first Venezuelan to win this golden tiara as a shortstop, since 2015, when Alcides Escobar earned the distinction. Omar Vizquel is the Venezuelan who won the most Gold Gloves with 11, all in the wide band.

Lastly, we mention Wilyer Abreu from Zulia, who achieved the highest honor in right field in his rookie season with the Boston Red Sox. Abreu left great numbers in the outfield, scoring 18 defensive runs saved and nine assists in the outfield.
