Amber Heard has expanded her family to four.
Last Sunday, which also happened to be Mother’s Day 2025, the “Danish Girl” actress (39) joyfully announced via Instagram that she had welcomed two new members into her family.
The twins, a daughter named Agnes and a son named Ocean, come after years of struggling with fertility issues, an experience Heard has described as “the most humbling of her life”:
“Becoming a mother by myself and on my own terms despite my own fertility challenges has been the most humbling experience of my life.”
Alongside her partner, photographer Bianca Butti, whom she has been with for several years, Heard chose to expand her family through surrogacy—the same method used for the birth of her first child Oonagh.
She also expressed deep gratitude for being able to make this choice with intention: “I am eternally grateful that I was able to choose this responsibly and thoughtfully.”
Amber Heard Becomes A Mother Of Twins
Heard shared the news through a heartfelt statement via Instagram, alongside a snap of the little ones’ feet:
“Mother’s Day 2025 will be one I’ll never forget,” she captioned the photo. “This year I am elated beyond words to celebrate the completion of the family I’ve strived to build for years. Today I officially share the news that I welcomed twins into the Heard gang.”
“My daughter Agnes and my son Ocean are keeping my hands (and my heart) full,” the actress continued.
“When I had my first baby girl Oonagh four years ago, my world changed forever. I thought I couldn’t possibly burst with more joy. Well, now I am bursting times three!!!
“Becoming a mother by myself and on my own terms despite my own fertility challenges has been the most humbling experience of my life. I am eternally grateful that I was able to choose this responsibly and thoughtfully.
“To all the moms, wherever you are today and however you got here, my dream family and I are celebrating with you. Love always, A x.”
Fertility Challenges
The actress has always been very open about her fertility challenges prior to becoming a mother—a journey that ultimately led her to pursue parenthood on her own terms.
While she hasn’t gone into extensive medical detail publicly, back in 2021 she revealed that she made a conscious decision to have a child via surrogacy after being told she would not be able to carry a pregnancy herself.
In July that year, Heard introduced her first child, Oonagh Paige Heard, to the world through an Instagram post. She wrote:
“I decided I wanted to have a child. I wanted to do it on my own terms. I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way… I hope we arrive at a point in which it’s normalized to not want a ring in order to have a crib.”
Heard hoped her openness would help shine a light on alternative paths to parenthood, including surrogacy, and the challenges many women face with fertility—particularly in the public eye.
So… Who’s The Father?
Fans have speculated the father of the children could be billionaire Elon Musk (53), whom she dated from 2016 to 2018, in light of a 2022 declaration made by a Heard family friend who alleged the actress and SpaceX founder had been in a legal battle over their embryos.
“Interesting. Reportedly, Amber Heard and Elon Musk created embryos together during their relationship then had a legal dispute over the rights after their breakup. Heard wished to keep them to have a child. So, @elonmusk could well be the father of her children,” one posted to X.
However, DailyMail confirms a rep for Heard reached out to them to deny these rumours, describing them as “100% false”.
A Quiet Life In Madrid
Following her highly publicized legal battle with Johnny Depp in 2022, which ruled in his favor, Heard stepped away from Hollywood and relocated to Madrid, Spain, in hopes of staying away from the spotlight.
Heard has embraced a more private lifestyle, focused on family and the values she wants to instill in her children.
