The Milton-Keynes based team dominated the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix, Ferrari claims the second team position

The highly anticipated 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix has met most of the predictions F1 analysts made. However, some surprises appeared at the back of the field. Red Bull have done it again at the top, with a 1-2 finish for Verstappen and Pérez, but the midfield distances have increased. Ferrari have settled as the second team, above Mercedes and McLaren who look very similar in performance. Aston Martin looks a step behind them and could make Fernando Alonso rethink his future with the team.

Bahrain is not a great benchmark but can show us where the field is

The two Red Bull‘s pace was out of reach for the rest of the field but Ferrari managed to score a podium for Carlos Sainz and a 4th position for Charles Leclerc. The Mercedes and McLaren drivers had similar paces and ended within 5th and 8th for Russell, Norris, Hamilton and Piastri. Both Aston Martin cars finished in the points with Fernando Alonso in 9th and the last points position, 10th for Lance Stroll.

Outside of the points, Zhou Guanyu managed to climb from 18th place to 11th with his Stake Sauber. Kevin Magnussen showed the pace of the Haas in 12th who knows if his teammate could have done it better if he didn’t have an incident on the first lap. 13th and 14th for RB‘s Ricciardo and Tsunoda after some radio discussion about position exchange in the final lap to catch the Haas in front. Further back Albon finished in 15th place and Hulkenberg in 16th after his accident. Alpine‘s fall translates to a P17 and P18 for Ocon and Gasly wich could have been even worse. However, the two unluckiest drivers were Valtteri Bottas, who had a disastrous 53 seconds pit-stop keeping him in P19 and Logan Sargeant who made some mistakes on track and finished last.

These are the final results of the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix

F1 is back this week on Saturday with the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix

A very different track that could shake the grid and show how cars behave on a lower downforce and more grip-based track. The Saudi track is heavily made of high-speed corners and proves to be a challenge for drivers.

Thursday is the first day of free practice for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and fans are ready for the second round of the world championship.
